Daily Qigong Tip Long Plane Rides Can They Be More Pleasant and Refreshing?
The answer is YES! Although feeling pretty tired is the common and expected experience after long hours sitting on a plane, there are some simple things you can do to change your experience, to feel less tired, too even feel refreshed getting off the plane!
First of all, your frame of mind is very important. Through years of teaching Qigong and self-health care, I have met many people who begin working on improving health. Although having very promising results of healing through self-practice, a large portion of people normally fail to follow through. They say they are Too Busy. Really, though, it is by choice.
If you have not done as much as you would like to improve your health because you have become Too Busy, you have a perfect opportunity to use your long plane ride to do something simple and helpful for yourself. As you help yourself, you will also be benefiting those ones you love. The long term benefit of using your air travel time wisely is to build up a healthy habit which can be extended into times other than flying. The short term benefit is that you will feel better getting off the plane.
If you are unable to find a reason to avoid feeling better on your flight, you can decide to ignore the crowded feeling, the confined space, the stuffy air and the unsatisfying food which we normally complain about.
Besides resting yourself by sleeping, follow the list of simple things below. You can follow the order below or make your own. When you finish, you can start again or hop around on list.
1. Self Face Massage: Rub the convenient yet important spots marked in red on the face chart at right. Count to 49 as you rub each spot. Use enough pressure to feel the tenderness of the spots
2. Self Hand Massage: Use your thumb to press down hard at the root of one palm and rub toward your fingers, trying to rub the whole palm with strong pressure. Then do the other palm.
3. Self Ear Massage: Rub your ears hard all over, counting slowly to 49 for each ear.
4. Foot Massage: If reaching your feet is not a difficult process, massage the bottom of each foot the same way you did your palms. As you may know, each ear, palm and foot are miniature maps of our body. When your rub each thoroughly, you are giving yourself a mini body massage.
5. Adjusting Your Sitting Posture (Always Helpful): Imagine your head is being gently pulled up by something. Visualize your toes for at least two minutes while imagining blood is running down toward them. FEEL how your body feels.
6. Making Use of Light: Close your eyes, try to FEEL, starting from your skin, moving inner to your tissue, mussels, blood, organs, bones and cells. Try to FEEL your whole body and become engaged with your body feeling.
Once you FEEL that you are engaged with your body, keep focused on your FEELING and start to imagine you are sitting in light. Imagine this light is super bright and pure, penetrating all throughout your body, making your body look and FEEL transparent. Keep trying. Keep FEELING that you are sitting in light and FEELING the warmth and pureness of the light throughout your body.
If you are into FEELING yourself in light, it feels good and I bet you do not want to stop FEELING that way. So sit like that as long as you wish. On the other hand, if you just find yourself unable to focus and get into it, follow items No. 1 - No. 5 above. When your mind is more settled, try No. 6 again.
Hope these tips help you take advantage of your air travel time. They always help me when I travel.

Be Happy! Continuation of an unpublished manuscript by Robert Cowling (BC),currently being edited Chapter Thirteen VISUALIZE We All Do It
Big Steps Can Bring Downfalls
When you describe a house, a car, a person--anything--you are visualizing what or whom you are describing. Visualizing is a powerful tool which can be even more useful with some self-training. By visualizing we can bring into our lives a new job or relationship, a change in our health, material possessions - the possibilities are endless.
If you are curious or adventurous, spend a few minutes each day or evening and sit quietly. Whenever possible, choose the same time and place each day. Close your eyes and imagine one way in which your life could be better. Contemplate about what you are imagining. Do this daily for a month, then change your image to a different way you would like to improve your life.
Visualizing is as simple as focusing on what you want and as complicated as creating a host of unseen disruptions in your life. As with most tools, there are hazards.
A former roommate of mine belonged to a religious sect which practiced a particular chant. She was excited about her chanting because she said it brought into her life the things she asked for while chanting. We talked occasionally about her experiences and she was open about using this religious practice to get material goods. By thinking about something she wanted while chanting, she found she often received what she wished for. This woman was visualizing.
What my chanting friend was not aware of was the effect of her actions. If I want more money and I rob a bank, I will have more money and more problems. We can easily see the effects of robbing a bank. The action of robbing the bank is a physical world event and is the cause of the unpleasant effects.
But most of life is unseen. Can you see love, anger or creativity? You can see the results, but not the feelings. Cause and Effect, also called "Karma", is an undeniable part of our lives. We reap what we sow. What goes around comes around. You get back what you give out. These phrases are a part of our language. Even if bank robbers are not caught, they have set in motion a cause which will come back to them in some way.
How did my chanting roommate create unseen problems for herself? She put her will ahead of Spirit's will (God by any name). Had she first declared, "If it is for the good of the whole and in the best interest of my spiritual unfolding, then I would like..." she would have saved herself troubles she probably will never relate to her chanting and the things it brings into her life. She probably would receive fewer things, but what she would bring into her life would be free of a hidden price. Visualization works more than most of us imagine. Learning to wisely managing this tool is as important as using it.
When used with responsibility and persistence, visualization can help you Be Happy!
